Update on corporate gatherings
Good day to each one of you! God is on the throne and in that we should rejoice! I am writing you considering the Governors announcements on Wednesday April 22nd. We are going to plan on having Sunday services back up and running on Sunday the 3rd of May.
We are in the process of trying to see what is required for us to be protecting our folks during the return to church and services. We understand that we must continue to follow social distancing requirements, this means that we will not encourage hugs and handshakes. Although we all enjoy these, for now let’s try to think of others above yourself! Please come in a way you feel comfortable, for example wearing a face covering or gloves. We are installing hand sanitizing stations throughout the meeting areas.
It’s with great excitement we announce the beginning steps of our gatherings again. Please know that we are doing all we can to take any precautionary steps for your protection. If you feel susceptible to infection, please refrain from coming for the next couple of weeks while we really nail down our safety. Praise the Lord, we are getting closer to being together, blessings, Luke
Steps taken by Cornerstone during this season of the Corona Virus
Good afternoon, yes, it’s still a great afternoon to serve the Lord! What that looks like may be a little different over the next few weeks. God is still on the throne and for that we are very thankful. Following up on Sunday’s brief message addressing the times we are now living in, I want to remind you as Paul reminded Timothy, “God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7) ESV, Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27) ESV. These words are truth and I believe they are meant for such a time as this!
Now is the time for the believer to be led by the Spirit of God that gives peace beyond our understanding. People are watching you Believer! We are created for eternity, not merely time, so God has work for us to do pointing others to Him. We are very in line with the safety and protection of each one of you.
In line with the CDC we are planning on live feeding our messages for the next two weeks. We are also closing the building at this time with the exception of staff, leadership and smaller accountability groups 10 or less. Thanks for helping us do our part to keep each other healthy!
At times like this we recognize that there could be tension regarding what should be happening and what should not be happening. We also understand that for as many people as we have in the body of Cornerstone there are that many opinions, this isn’t a time for getting our way. Trust me I have never had to do anything like this in my ministry of over 20+ years, it goes against everything in me in just about every way and yet I, like you, have to remember that it isn’t about me! This is about the safety of many, obedience, and wisdom.
What we need to be doing is praying, “Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophecies, 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil. (1 Thess 5:16-22) ESV. Prayer changes things, prayer changes us! This is a great time for us to be united in prayer. Let’s spread the good news of the gospel, allowing His peace to be a witness to those around you. Rallying together to serve the King of Kings!
Here is a great list for us to strive to fulfill daily during this time:
- Through prayer.
- Surrender your day to Jesus and be led by the Holy Spirit.
- Pray that the Lord would heal our land physically and awaken those spiritually dead.
- Remember there is tension, let’s respond to that by being wise as serpents and as harmless as doves.
- Please let us know if you need anything, we will strive to work together as a church to meet the needs of each other!
- Please let us know if you have something you can give including but not limited to food, necessities etc.
- Please be as much as possible about the Harvest of Souls.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
God has this, and if you are in Him, He has you also! Don’t lose heart, when we are weak He is strong, let Him be your strength!
Your Friend and Pastor, Luke
