1 John 5:11-12, Colossians 1:27, Galatians 2:20

  1. God’s testimony about His Son is the truth! (1 John 5:11)
  2. Not believing God is to forsake eternal life! (John 3:36)
  3. Jesus Christ is the only way we can live eternally! (John 14:6)
  4. Good works won’t get you to heaven! (Eph. 2:8-10)
  5. Verse 11-12 are very clear: (John 3:16-18)
    1. God gives eternal life!
    2. This life is in His Son Jesus Christ!
  6. Having Christ in you will result in: (1 Peter 1:22-25)
    1. Genuine love for others, (agape)!
    2. Devoted service to God through Christ!
  7. How do you know if Christ is on the throne of your heart?

 Seven Indicators of a relationship with Christ:

 Honest evaluation of self, without pride. (James 1:22-25 )

    1. Does conviction bring you closer to the Lord?
    2. Do you keep short accounts with Christ?
    3. Are you frustrated with your failures?
  2. Change in your life, death to self! (Galatians 2:20)
    1. Do you specifically combat the desire for self?
    2. Do you strive to put others before yourself?Joy in your life (1 Pet. 1:8-9)
      1. Do you day dream of heaven?
      2. Do you have random moments of elation?
      1. Forgiveness rids your life of bitterness. (Col. 3:12-17)
        1. Do you forgive regardless of the others actions?
        2. Do you pray for the success of those who hurt you?
      2. Transformation! (Romans 12:1-2, Hebrews 12)
        1. Do you hunger to grow in your knowledge of scripture?
        2. Do you want to be closer to the Lord every day?
        3. Do you strive for spiritual growth every day?
        4. Do you embrace the discipline of the Lord?
      3. Selfless living, not my will but your will Lord (Matt.16:24-25)
        1. Do you give Christ control daily, or is there another?
        2. Do you by faith trust God’s plan for your life?
        3. Do you find yourself no longer excited about things you really used to be excited about?
      4. Is your relationship with Christ real? It can be today! (Psalm 46:10, Romans 10:9-10)
