  1. John the Baptist wasn’t Culturally accepted.
    a. Different on the outside (Matt. 3:4, 11:7-19)
    b. Different on the inside (Luke 1:67-80)
     John the Baptist was called of God to be separate! How
    about you?
  2. Called to reveal cleansing needed. (Luke 1:57-80)
    a. Forgiven of their rebellion (Jer. 33:8)
    b. Cleansed from idols (Ezek. 36:25-26)
    c. Running water was necessary for cleansing (Zech. 13:1)
     New Testament culture needed cleansed. How about our
    culture? How about our lives?
  3. Called to call out! (Isa. 40:3-5)
    a. One crying in the wilderness, Repent (Matt. 3:1-3)
    b. Be Baptized with water and the Holy Spirit (Mat. 3:11-16)
     Our culture says we must compromise, will you? What do
    you live by? Tradition? Self-helps? God’s Word?
  4. Uncompromising in a compromised culture.
    a. Called for cultural cleansing (Matt. 3:12, Luke 3:9)
    b. Called sin, sin (Matt. 14:1-12)
     As the King goes so goes the Kingdom, who is your King?
    Self? Christ?
  5. Culture pinning for a King. (John 12:12-19)
    a. Deceptions of an earthly Kingdom
    i. To lead a revolt against Rome
    ii. To establish a culturally acceptable Kingdom
