1 John 2:15-17

Do Not Love the World [15] Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life(1)—is not from the Father but is from the world. [17] And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.   (ESV)

   1. Look what I can do- First step to self-worship.

   3. Look what I can do without God-Third step raises our irreverence.
   4. Look what I have done without God-Fourth step feeds the irreverence.
   5. What has God done for me lately?-Fifth step creates a deception of arrogance.
   6. Is there any reason to serve God?-Sixth step allows our minds to be totally overcome with self-sufficiency.
   7. Is there really a God?-This is where Satan wants us.
4. All of these statements have to do with self-worship/pride.
5. Remember you and I have all ____________! (Romans 3:23)
6. You cannot _______________ your sin by looking to yourself. (John 3:16-17, Ephesians 2:8-10)
7. Our sufficiency __________ be in Christ. (Colossians 1:15-23, 2 Cor. 3:4-6,12:9)

10. There are things in this life you might think you are accomplishing on your own but as Moses reminded the Israelites so today I remind you. (Deut. 8:11-20)
